Why So Many Artists Stay Stuck.

It’s not because they don’t care. It’s not because they’re lazy. It’s not because they lack talent.

It’s because they have been trying to grow through disconnected experiences that were never designed to build real momentum.

That’s why progress so often fades.

The problem isn’t a lack of effort. It’s direction.

You’re not alone. You’re not behind. You just haven’t had a path.

What Is Chroma?

(and why it works when other approaches stall out)

A NEW System for Artist Growth

Chroma is a guided artist growth program built around one simple idea:
Progress is not accidental. It is designed.

Most artists have tried pieces of the puzzle. The problem is that they usually arrive as isolated experiences — not as a system.

That’s why Chroma is built around the Progress Loop™ — a four-part growth system designed to help artists keep moving forward:

CLARITY

Clear Learning Roadmap

Follow the BrushUp Method™ so you always know what to work on next.

CONSISTENCY

Weekly Master Sessions

Turn what you learn into consistent studio action through weekly sessions, projects, and repetition.

COACHING

Expert Guidance & Critique

Follow the BrushUp Method™ so you always know what to work on next.

Supportive Artist Connections

Grow alongside artists on the same road, with the accountability and encouragement that make progress easier to sustain.

Together, these 4 pillars create something most artists have never had: a proven and reliable way to keep getting better. It’s a structure that helps progress finally start to stick.

Weekday classes. Saturday workshops. Monthly projects. Expert feedback. Community support.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much time do I need each week?

Chroma is flexible.

You can begin with one two-hour class a week, or join more sessions if you want to
go deeper.

Our recommendation is simple: choose one or two classes, attend them consistently, and focus on those projects.

All classes are recorded and available for replay for up to 1 year.

Our classes have 3 formats.

  1. Accelerator classes where there is a stand alone lesson each week, you can pop in and out as your schedule allows.
  2. Mastery Classes where a project is taught over the course of the month. If you miss one of these classes we recommend watching the replay before the next class so you know what is going on.
  3. Star Artist Workshops. These are one and two-session workshops that bring in outside artists. These are designed to paint along with the artists.

All classes are delivered online.

Mandy Theis is the Core Teacher in Chroma.

Mandy Theis is a painter, educator, and licensed art teacher dedicated to helping artists build strong foundational drawing and painting skills through clear, structured instruction. With a background in classical realism training and years of experience teaching students of all levels, Mandy is known for her ability to break down complex artistic concepts into approachable, practical lessons that help artists grow with confidence.

As Director of Academics for Chroma, Mandy leads the core curriculum and helps create a supportive, growth-focused learning environment where artists receive structured guidance, meaningful feedback, and encouragement at every stage of their journey. Her philosophy centers on the belief that high-level artistic skill is teachable, learnable, and accessible to anyone willing to practice with thoughtful guidance and consistent effort.

Additionally, Chroma brings in the greatest painters of our age for Saturday workshops. Please check the Calendar for the most updated list of Star Artists.

No. You do not need to be an advanced painter to join Chroma.

Chroma is designed for artists who are serious about improving, not artists who already have everything figured out. If you care about becoming a stronger painter and want a clearer path, more structure, live instruction, expert guidance, and a supportive community, Chroma can help you grow from wherever you are today.

The most important thing is not your current skill level — it’s your willingness to learn, practice, and be guided.

Absolutely not! We study drawing, master copies, color theory, composition, design, and visual understanding — the kinds of skills that strengthen all artwork, whether you work in oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, graphite, or digital painting.

Also, many of our Start Artist Workshops feature world-class waterolor artists.

You’ll need a computer, tablet, or mobile device with a reliable internet connection. Classes are delivered via Zoom.

A webcam is recommended so you can join the conversation and receive live feedback, but it’s not required. You’ll still be able to participate through Zoom’s written chat.

Upload works to that class’s posts page. The instructor will find several themes of what students can work on and select a handful of works to critique.

You don’t have to submit but we encourage you to watch them, it is a great way to get guidance when you aren’t ready to share your own work yet.

The Founding Class is the very first group of artists to join Chroma.

Founding Members don’t just get early access — they help shape what Chroma becomes. Their feedback, experience, and success stories will help us refine the curriculum, improve the community, and build the program around what artists actually need.

Founding Members also receive special benefits, including the Founding Member designation, access to Eric’s private Founders-only session, and the Founding offer available only during launch. Once the Founding Class closes, these bonuses will not be offered again.

We want Chroma to feel like the right fit for you.

Join, explore the community, attend the first sessions, and begin working through the path. If you realize it is not the right fit, reach out to our team and we will help you from there.

The goal is not to pressure anyone into staying. The goal is to support artists who genuinely want a clear path, live guidance, and a community to help them keep growing.
